IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a standardized test of English language proficiency. It is jointly governed by Cambridge English Language Assessment, IDP Education, IELTS Australia and the British Council. It is one of the most globally accepted English language tests and recognized by over 9,000 organizations around the world. Only last year, over 2.2 million tests were conducted in more than 1,000 testing centers in over 140 countries.

DURATION AND STRUCTURE OF IELTS
The IELTS test consists of four modules, all candidates must complete to get high band score.

The four modules and their durations are.
- Listening Module (40 minutes)
2. Reading Module (60 minutes)
3. Writing Module (60 minutes)
4. Speaking Module (11 – 15 minutes)
The first three tests are conducted in a day without break. While the Speaking test is conducted within 2 to 7 days.
Listening Module
- The test has four sections.
- A brief introduction of the speaker and the situation in the beginning of each section.
- Each section consist of a monologue or a dialogue and is heard only once.
- Candidate may face some difficulties during listening.
Reading Module
- There are two kinds of reading modules.
- Academic Version
- General Training Version
- Both versions have a total of 40 questions each.
- Questions are divided into three sections and the candidate has to complete each section in 20 minutes.
- In Academic Version, the candidates are given three texts to read and answer the questions given.
- In General Training Version, the candidates can get up to five smaller texts to read and answer the questions.
- The text is mostly taken from books, brochures, magazines and Newspapers etc.
Writing Module
- Writing Module consist of two versions and two tasks.
- In Academic Version, the first task is to describe a diagram, graph or chart in 150 words. While in the second task, the candidates have to write their point of view by arguments and supported by diagrams in 250 words.
- In General Training Version, in the first task the candidates have to write a letter, explaining a situation and to write an essay in the second task.
- Candidates get 20 minutes to complete the first task and 40 minutes for the second task.
Speaking Module
- The Speaking Module consists of oral interview with the examiner. Duration of Interview is 11 to 15 minutes.
- The interview is divided in three sections.
- In first section of the interview, the examiner asks general questions about the candidate.
- In second section, the candidates have to speak on a given topic for 2 – 3 minutes.
- In third section, there is a discussion with the examiner on the topic given in the second part of the interview.
These four modules are used to test whether the candidate can communicate effectively in English. Here at The House of Knowledge (HOK), we make sure that the candidate has confidence, stability and well-formed precision to achieve the best possible band scores.
